SUMMARY:Annual Meeting & Celebration
DESCRIPTION:Join us for Midcoast Literacy’s Annual Meeting & Celebration on May 30th.\nAll Midcoast Literacy tutors\, learners\, supporters\, community partners\, and family members are invited to gather on Saturday\, May 30th in celebration of everything we achieved in 2025. After a successful year in which we set a new record for program participation and connected with partners across the midcoast region\, we’re excited to come together as a community to have fun and say thank you. \nThe celebration will be an outdoor picnic on the lawn at Midcoast Literacy’s offices at 9 Park Street in Bath. There will be food on the grill as well as plenty of side dishes and desserts\, cold drinks\, lawn games for kids and adults to enjoy\, and an award ceremony to recognize some of our outstanding community members. As always\, this is a family-friendly event\, so bring your loved ones to enjoy an afternoon in the sun. Attendees are also invited to bring a potluck dish to share if you would like to. Lawn chairs are recommended as the event will be outdoors with limited seating.

SUMMARY:Read Together Tutor Training
DESCRIPTION:Train to become a volunteer tutor in our Read Together program working with students ages 6-14. No prior tutoring or teaching experience is necessary. If you or someone you know can give two hours a week to help a child read better\, you can truly make a difference in your community. Pre-registration and participation in all three days of the training is required. Volunteer tutors must be at least 18 years old and make an initial commitment to tutor twice a week for 12 months (with occasional breaks for vacations or holidays). Once a new volunteer completes the three-day training led by our Program Director\, they are then matched with a child from the local community. \nThe training will occur: \n\nJune 1\, 2026 from 9am to 1pm\nJune 3\, 2026 from 9am to 1pm\nJune 5\, 2026 from 9am to 1pm\nParticipation in all three days of the training is required.\n\nFor more information or to sign-up for the June Read Together tutor training\, contact Katie at PD@midcoastlit.org
