Readers Theater

Introducing kids and adults to new stories through fun, live performances of books read by local actors.

Readers Theater is a style of performance that blends the reading aloud of a book with theatrical elements before a live audience. The cast of actors simultaneously narrates the story and brings added life to the characters through voice, expression, and movement. Midcoast Literacy Readers Theater performances are our way of sharing a love of reading and great stories in a unique format with groups of kids and adults.

Fall 2023 Readers Theater
Sunday, October 29th

2:00pm performance
(with activities for kids before and after the show)
Morse High School Auditorium; 826 Shipbuilder Drive; Bath, Maine

Featured Children's Books:

Bonaparte Falls Apart by Margery Cuyler
The Pirates Are Coming! by John Condon
A Visitor for Bear by Bonny Becker
Moldilocks and the Three Scares by Lynne Marie

The run-time of the performance will be approximately 1 hour, including an intermission.
Come early for Halloween-related activities before the show - costumes are encouraged! After the performance, kids will have a chance to meet the actors.

The four wonderful books we will be perfoming this fall are:
Bonaparte Falls Apart by Margery Cuyler. A young skeleton is falling to pieces and worried about getting made fun of when school starts, so his friends come up with schemes to hold his bones together.
The Pirates Are Coming! by John Condon. Tom is on the lookout for pirates, but every time he sees a ship it’s a false alarm… until the pirates really DO arrive in town.
A Visitor for Bear by Bonny Becker. Bear is determined not to let any visitors into his cozy house, but a small, gray, bright-eyed mouse is just as determined to come for tea.
Moldilocks and the Three Scares by Lynne Marie. In this slightly spooky re-telling, the Scare family takes a midnight stroll to let their soup cool and while they’re out, a little zombie named Moldilocks sleepwalks into their haunted house.

Tickets for the live Readers Theater performance in Bath on October 29th are $10 per person or $35 for a family ticket (4-8 people). CLICK THE LINK BELOW TO PURCHASE YOUR TICKETS. Thank you and enjoy the show!
