A special fundraising evening with Maine authors to support literacy education
Midcoast Literacyโs Author-to-Author series brings Maine writers together for conversations about craft and the power of words. All proceeds from Author-to-Author ticket sales go to support Midcoast Literacy’s work in the community.

Writers Tess Gerritsen and Kathryn Miles, who both came from away but have lived and worked in Maine for many years, will share the stage at Midcoast Literacy’s third annual Author-to-Author fundraiser. The evening will feature the two authors and friends reading from their work and in conversation about their inspirations and writing craft.
A reception and meet-and-greet with the authors will follow, and copies of their books will be available for purchase.


Tess Gerritsen
Tess Gerritsen trained as a medical doctor and built a second career as an internationally bestselling novelist. Her 32 novels include The Summer Guests, The Spy Coast, Gravity, and The Surgeon. She has won both the Nero Wolfe Award (for Vanish) and the Rita Award (for The Surgeon). Time Magazine named The Surgeon one of the best mystery/thrillers ever written. Her series of novels featuring homicide detective Jane Rizzoli and medical examiner Maura Isles inspired the hit TNT television series “Rizzoli & Isles.” Her novels are translated into 40 languages and more than 40 million copies have been sold around the world. She lives in Maine.

Kathryn Miles
Kathryn Miles is an award-winning journalist and science writer. The long-time editor of Hawk & Handsaw, Miles served as professor of environmental studies and writing at Unity College from 2001-2015. She is the author of five books: Adventures with Ari, All Standing, Superstorm, Quakeland, and Trailed: One Womanโs Quest to Solve the Shenandoah Murders, which was named a New York Times Best Book of 2022 and is currently in production as a feature-length documentary. She currently serves as a scholar-in-residence for the Maine Humanities Council, an instructor for the Maine Writers and Publishers Alliance, and a member of the Eastern Oregon University MFA faculty.
