Midcoast Literacy is nonprofit based in Bath that helps people of all ages improve their lives through literacy in Lincoln, Sagadahoc and northern Cumberland counties. Our Read Together tutors work one-on-one with children ages 7-14 including both English language learners and native English-speaking children who are reading below grade level. This is a supplemental program conducted outside of school, staffed by volunteers dedicated to improving the literacy of young people. Volunteer tutors commit to working one hour, twice a week, for a minimum of one year with their students. Volunteers are expected to be respectful, organized, dependable, kind, patient, and flexible.
