This month, we celebrate a recent graduate of the Read With Me program.

M. attended Head Start for 3 years, and her mother was a regular attendee at RWM sessions. M. was always excited about RWM and actively listened to the new story and loved doing the activities that followed each read-aloud with her mom. A few months ago, M.’s mother sent us the following message, sharing the lasting effects of Read With Me: “I am so grateful to Midcoast Literacy’s partnership with Head Start. Their visits to my daughter’s classroom were an exciting event for the kids. That excitement, plus receiving a new book with each visit, instilled a joy of reading that has followed her into school. As a kindergartener, her reading and comprehension are already more advanced than others in her age group. I attribute her love of reading and ability to Midcoast Literacy. Every night, she falls asleep with piles of books in her bed. I’m absolutely grateful for Midcoast Literacy. Their devotion and hard work for the love of reading is greatly appreciated.”
