Our March Success Story recognizes Read Together pair Hunter and his tutor Pat, who have worked together since November 2022.

Pat Hunter Success StoryDuring that time, Pat and Hunter, now a middle schooler, have read a lot of books together. Hunter’s favorite was Fire Hawk. He also read every Dragon Masters book in our library and has now moved on to non-fiction books about fishing. Pat reported, “Hunter’s reading has improved to the point that he is not afraid to read more difficult books now. His confidence has allowed him to read more on his own without help.” She appreciates that Hunter is polite and diligent even when the work is challenging. For his part, Hunter appreciates the extra time Pat puts into working with him. “I like that Pat picks me up from home and drives me home. She is nice and understanding.” Sometimes their sessions also include writing and spelling, but no matter what, they always reserve the last few minutes for their favorite game. “We love to play Uno at the end of the day,” said Hunter. Sessions filled with shared reading, conversation, a little writing, and a good round of Uno have equaled success for this pair.
